LANXESS to distribute FRX Polymers’ Nofia® branded flame retardants in key segments
LEVERKUSEN, Germany – TheNewswire - January 21, 2025 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS, a global leader of brominated and phosphorous based flame retardants and FRX Polymers CHELMSFORD, Mass., a leading global developer and manufacturer of environmentally sustainable flame-retardant additives, announce that LANXESS will distribute Nofia® branded flame retardants manufactured by FRX in segments where LANXESS brings advantageous complementary strengths.
LANXESS is one of the world’s leading producers of flame retardants with a broad range of halogenated and non-halogenated flame retardants, and is well established with almost all major flame retardant customers world-wide. LANXESS will use its global sales, marketing and technical teams to promote Nofia® flame retardants to key customers in certain engineering polymers for a range of high performance applications, copper-clad laminates for modern high performance printed circuit boards as well as demanding textile coating applications.
The partnership with LANXESS is expected to significantly enhance the global market share of Nofia® products especially as market dynamics shift due to recent legislation. By leveraging LANXESS’s extensive technical, marketing, and sales capabilities, NOFIA® Flame Retardants are expected to gain access to new sectors and geographies. This collaboration aligns with LANXESS’s strategy of offering sustainable flame-retardant solutions and is anticipated to capitalize on the growing demand for eco-friendly products.
“This is a decisive step in the development of FRX,” said Marc Lebel, founding CEO of FRX Polymers. “The opportunities for growth of our Nofia® flame retardants are simply too great, and too urgent, for us to grow rapidly enough on our own.” Patrick Muezers, designated CEO, added: “The relationship with LANXESS adds crucial technical and commercial resources to our unique chemical and engineering strengths, most notably with larger customers and for business development. This will allow FRX to grow at a faster pace in several key segments while we also continue to grow at our existing broad customer base in a range of demanding applications.”
FRX is in commercial production at its fully permitted facility in Antwerp, Belgium, where it currently supplies Nofia® Flame Retardant Polymers to a growing number of multinational OEMs around the world.
